And they’ll know that you do not trust them, that you have no faith in them. And you are probably the one that would hate if it someone did this to you. But hey, they are just kids - and you know better. Of course you do.
(and don’t forget, you can spy on everyone else in the family too! Who does your spouse IM? What sites do they look at? Will they smile and say “Thanks for keeping safe!” when they find out? I think not.)

Interesting. I went on a child online exploitation course last week, and yes, we heard some horrible things that can happen, BUT the emphasis was on training the child to trust their instincts and to recognise when a situation is out of control - and then how to sort it. There was no suggestion that the privacy of young people should be invaded in such a way. Parents will always be shocked by what their kids are up to or saying because they don’t want them to grow up!
