I’ve been with Zen Internet for a number of years now and bar a couple of glitches they have been excellent. They answer the phone fast, they know precisely what they are doing, they talk you through what they want doing from memory not a screen, they take time to explain and they are really good to talk to. Faultless in that respect. They also supply all the alt.* hierarchy in Usenet (bar the really bad stuff) and I know not of another host who will - Google does NOT count. Anyway, as good as they are - and they are the top in all the comparison sites - in the end cost does come into it. They cost me £420 a year with probably another £20 extra for bandwidth overage. I’m moving to O2 and the cost there for one year will be £90. That’s one big saving (my mobile is with them though that was not a reason for the move). It’s the operator closest to Zen, I’ve read decent things about them - and bad stuff too - and the guy at Zen when I got the MAC code agreed he’d heard they were good. I have no idea why Zen have such high prices but given their awards their business must be doing very well indeed. Given that I really do need the line though I hope O2 are as good as billed.
