The family of murdered British exchange student Meredith Kercher is seeking £20m in compensation for her death. BBC

There is compensation to make up for lost earnings, lost abilities.
There is compensation which is punitive.
There is compensation which is all about the money.

You can’t bring someone back, the person responsible will be dealt with according to the law so why £20 million? How do you even start justifying that?
